macerating toilets

We would like to finish our basement to include a guest bedroom and bathroom; however we did not install any drains in the basement when we built the house. Do macerating toilets work well in this situation? Is there anything we should be aware of with this technology?

Depending on where your sewer line is located...
A gravity drain is the best option. If a gravity drain is at all possible most codes will not allow a pumped drain.

As far as pumped systems...

An ejector pit with drains installed in the floor is the best option.

An above the floor tank is second best but more desirable if there is high ground water or ledge under the basement floor.

The least desirable system is the macerating toilet...
