Slip fit vs diverter spout

Slip fit refers to how the spout attaches to the plumbing...namely it "slips on" over a bare copper pipe, and is sealed with an internal o-ring and held in place by a set screw. The other type screws onto a threaded pipe.
Either type of attachment can be a diverter...has a pull-up button to divert water to the shower; or plain.

One doesn't preclude the other! The slip-fit is referring to one that slips onto the supply pipe rather than screwing on. A divertor spout has a built in divertor rather than a straight through, simple spout with no divertor.

The faucets I'm looking at , one is described as a diverter spout and one as a slip fit spout (both have a diverter lever in the picture). Is it safe to assume that what they are calling a diverter spout is threaded?

Your link does not take me to a tub spout.
I would not assume anything yet from your description. Remember that
"diverter" describes WHAT a spout DOES. And "slip" describes HOW it is ATTACHED. They are not related. Each shower, or each spout, should have a spec sheet describing function and installation details.

It doesn't mention being threaded. I downloaded the installation instructions from Kohler's site.
The same instructions are used for both units. They show one threaded spout and one slip fit spout. I'll have to call Kohler on Tuesday to verify if the spout is threaded or not.
