I have a Jameco Kitchen Sink Basket Strainer installed into each of my double bowl sink 13 years ago. The clip at the bottom of removable strainer has broken and I have been looking for a replacement. Sadly, nothing in the market fits. My husband has gone aound many plumbing stores in Detroit and has also came back with non fitting ones. Anyone can offer me advice where I can get the replacements? We are also having problem dismantling the complete strainer assembly from the sink to the drain pipe in our last attempt to do a complete replacement instead. Anyone can offer me advise how I can dismantle the Jameco unit? Thanks.

If a plumber was doing it, it would wind up in the trash.
If the strainer is giving you a hard time, use a hack saw on it.
They work well at removing the securing nuts.
Almost anytime I'm working under a kitchen sink, and I have to touch a stainer, it winds up leaking.
So, If I touch them, I'm probably going to replace it.
If putty was allowed to get into the threads of the locknut when it was assembled, then you will have to cut it out. If not, then the nut should unscrew using a large pair of Channelock pliers.

HJ & Terry, Thanks for the fast response! I shall try the hacksaw this weekend.
