Remodelling my 2nd floor bathroom. Ripped everything out and putting in new floor. I was going to change out the toilet closet flange but my plumber stated that it was in good shape. the line is copper and the flange is in good shape.
I have laid down subfloor and durock. In order to get around the flange the durock is the same width as the flange. when I dry fit in the tile that is going to be laid, it is going to abut or be slightly lower than the current flange.
My question is this. there is nothing actually under the flange itself. there is an approximate 6/8 inch space from the flange to the subfloor. Do I need to screw the flange into the subfloor and fill the hole with drypack cement? Are the screws enough? There is no play whatsoever on the flange. That copper pipe f'n strong.
