Shower floor without a liner???
I have 2 conflicting views and would like some opinions on this. My current situation is I have a shower with a plywood floor, on top of that the plumber has a sloped morter bed with backer board on top of that up to the drain and is planning on installing the tile on top of that.
- Talking to the noble company (makers of the CPE liner). I was told I should rip it out, create a regular sloped bed without using the backerboard, put in a new drain that allows for the drain ring to clamp onto a membrane (pvc or cpe). and install the membrane. They said the morter will eventually leak as will the backer board and morter bed (this is on the second floor)
- The tile installer has installed showers successfully with the sloped morter bed and backerboard. And has not heard of any leak problems.
Just wondering what other people's thoughts are as I have no idea about this stuff
