I removed a bathtub and there was a metal pipe (thin walled type) running from the tub drain to an ABS pipe. My access was not great, and so I had to use a bit of force to remove the metal pipe from the ABS pipe (after I had removed the plastic compression fitting). Now I notice a small amount of side-to-side movement in the ABS pipe, which seems to occur at a compression fitting that's near (or part of) the P trap. The fitting itself is very tight (I certainly can't budge it by hand), but I can move the pipe back and forth. Is this normal? I'm just wondering if I might have damaged something down there and it's difficult to see much. I ran some water down it and there was no obvious problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If its a joint that seems to be moving, then thats cause for concern. Investigate further

If the entire pipe and fittings feel like they are swaying slightly, it probably means that the pipe was not secured at the time it was installed, (minimal cause for concern). More than likely nothing will become of it once the tub is installed and the waste and overflow is reconnected.

If you still have doubts, get to a point that you can physically see the parts that are moving
