I have a Mansfield frost free sillcock that leaks when it is open. I have read several online suggestions, most of which explaining I need to remove a nut below the handle to remove the inner assembly.

The only problem is this model doesn't have a nut to remove. When I take the handle off there is a white threaded nylon nut and when I remove that I can not see how I am supposed to remove the inner assembly.

I think I can fix the leak with a repair kit or graphite thread if I can just get to it.

Please help.

Once you remove that nut you put the handle back on and open... open... Keep opening until it comes out. Your graphite string probably won't do it but I have fixed them with teflon tape.

I could not believe how simple of a problem this is to fix, yet how difficult to find help with. I contacted several plumbing supply companies, plumbing contractors and sent messages on several on-line message boards before finding someone that could help.

I was able to get the assembly out and noticed I needed to replace an o-ring and gasket as well. I have ordered a Mansfield repair kit and will reassemble it tonight. I can only hope the leak stops.

Thank you so much for the help.

While I do hope this works for you I stopped repairing them because the problem generally comes back after a short time...I will only replace hose bibs.

Legend makes a very nice 1/4 turn bib.
