I am installing a bathroom in a basement, underground. I will need to pump the shower, sink and toilet. I was originally going to use the saniflo systems, but after reading here I see that digging up the floor is the proper way to go.

My question is what system makes a better ejector system the Zoeller system or the liberty system.

I've heard good things about Zoeller...don't know about the other. See what some others have to say.
 
get the Zoeller

Zoeller or Hydromatic are the best you can get...

as long as you go with the pump set up with a separate
mercury switch that attaches to the pipe or side of the pump ,
you will never go wrong... because you can change the switch
some day without literally having to break down the pump
or take it out of the pit....

the weak link with the Zoeller line of pumps is their built in switch

and if you buy a pump with the switch built into the pump
and it has only one wire that does
both the switch and the motor together,

you will live to regret it...usually in only a few years..

I bought a Liberty pump and tank pre-installed, I installed the alarm float, its been in for 5 years without a problem...
 
A fun day of plumbing

I have never tried the Liberty pump..

so I cant say whether it has only one wire coming
from the assembly or it has two wires that plug
into the wall.....


All I do know ....

is their is not a better experience
on Gods Green Earth than having to bail out a pit full
of someone else's sewage because the built in switch has
failed you in a year or two...or even ten.......

and of course the sewage pit is literally full to the top....

and you cant plug the pump motor
directly into the wall and manually make
the pump get this god awful mess out of the pit..

so you have to pull that pump out of the
pit full of muck and break down the top of the
motor and install a new switch.....


it sort of makes you feel like you are "bobbing for apples"

but it takes the experience to a whole new level.........


it is usually a day you wont forget anytime soon...

My supplier dropped the Liberty line because of excessive problems with them. One of the more serious ones was that the pumps would break holes in the bottom of the basins.
 
Thanks for the information. Does Zoeller make a pump that has an external switch or only the problematic internal switch? Thanks

I am guessing that the zoeller only has an internal switch and one power wire? Which creates a problem in repair.
 
I prefer Zoeller. I recently replaced my 16-year-old sewage ejector that had an internal switch with one that didn't. It had the external, replaceable float. I had trouble with the internal switch some time back and didn't want another switch that was hard/impossible to replace, so I got the external with two cords this time.

I miss the old mercury switch floats . . . they lasted longer.
