Opinions and thoughts on a PVC water main

It comes in 10' sections and uses a PVC coupler to add to the length needed.
Of course it is rated for potable and drinking water as confimed via the company and labeled on each pipe. I have heard good and bad things about coupling pipe underground.. Do they make a fitting to go from PVC to pex when going in the house?

We only use it when the size is 1 1/4" or larger, and we use 20' lengths because every coupling, or any other fitting, is a potential leak.

Best bet is to use 20' lengths with one bell end.

PVC is widely used around here underground, and the number of problems are small. A lifted root or a rock, which damage a PVC pipe, would eventually damage copper, but the copper might hold out for a few years more!

why not just put in pex???

why would you want to gamble with couplings
in the ground that could potentially break from ground
movement and shifting of the soil???

you can buy a 100 foot coil of blue underground pex
anywhere for just about chickenfeed..

I have even seen peopel go to lowes and get the
brown Zurn 3/4 pex and run that too.....
(the experts at Lowes say it is ok to do)

roll it down through the hole from your meter all
the way into the home and switch it over to whatever you
want to with a sharkbite fitting...

Also You Need A Lic. Electrician To Install A New Ufer Ground Rod
To Get Proper Electric Ground To The House

I must have a degree then because I make it run up hill all the time with sewage ejectors and lift stations.

Cass you have to be able to defy the laws of gravity

pumps are not allowed to earn a degree it has to do it on ist own

I have seen work where
crap actually ran up hill a foot before....
without any help....

If its really a water main, whats wrong with c900? Or if its a servic line how about black poly (200psi)?

I've installed many black poly lines... nothing wrong with it!

As far as c-900 here it would probably be installed by the water company in the street. I haven't done any 4" lines to a home yet ;-)
