How to monitor when pump is on

I just went through replacing my submersible pump because of the check valve leaking. I didn’t know it was leaking until the electric bill went sky high. How can I put a light or monitor on to tell when the pump is running so this won’t happen again? Any input would be welcomed.

You can tie a light or something into the pump side of the pressure switch. In this way the light will be on anytime the pump is running.
