Broken basement trap

hello everyone,

I have a 80+ year old house. At the trap in the basement, there is always standing water in a recessed sump next to the trap. Trying to access it with a snake (by professional plumber) did not work.

Could this be a broken or collapsed trap?

If you had a pic of the trap I'm sure somebody can help you with your question.
