Weird flushing problem

The water in our front toilet goes down very slowly, sometimes clogging, so that it seldom finishes a flush without plunging or several flushes. My husband uninstalled the toilet yesterday to make sure the wax ring wasn't partially occluding the outflow. He also checked to make sure the sewer wasn't clogged.

It is an old 5 gallon toilet that we moved to this spot. We replaced the insides and it worked fine for about 3 days.

What could be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Sharon

Not sure exactly what the blow hole and the flush ring are; we're guessing that the blow hole is the hole in back below the water line and the flush ring is the circle of holes under the rim. We tried scraping each with a coat hanger and it seemed to flush better.

New question: can we put rust and scale remover in the toilet bowl? It is a bathroom cleaning product. Can we put Drano in the toilet bowl? I'm thinking if there were something like a pen or some other plastic, it would melt the plastic.

Thanks in advance,
Sharon

clogged toilet

A " Blow hole" is the term I use to describe my brother-in law.

you might need to use the pointed end of a coat hanger and rheem out the little holes under the rim of the toilet.bowl.

their is also a opening or jet at the bottom of the bowl that sometimes gets clogged up with lime...

you can also put "muratic acid " in the toilet to really scour ouit the bolw of all mineral deposits.

go get a gallon of it, about 3 bucks.

get all the water out of the bowl then throw the whole gallon into the bowl.

cover the bowl with a plastic garbage bag to keep the smell from getting too strong in thr room

turn on the fan and open the window to the room for ventialtion

let it sit for as long as you can take the smell. all day would be nice.

then flush it down and flush about three extra times to dilloute the acid.

if this dont work, try a toilet auger

Tried the muriatic acid...didn't make a difference.

Hubby says he has a small auger, but it won't fit through the toilet. Is there a special one that is made for toilets?

In a year or so, I want to do a complete remodel of the bathroom, down to studs, and moving the toilet, sink and bathtub to different locations. I know it doesn't really make a difference, but I hate to install an Ultramax, then have to move it later. I want a new Ultramax to go with the "new" bathroom. However, when we bought the house, they installed a new cheap toilet which never worked, and it wasn't a bad wax ring installation problem. Any thoughts?
