I have a second story bath. The toilet will be flat vented, the wye is rolled up 45 degrees then straight back to the closest wall (1/4 inch per foot slope towards the drain). Once the vent goes vertical should I put in a cleanout? Under UPC I read that cleanouts are not required above the first floor, but thought it might be a good idea. The cleanout would be in a closet. My plan was to put it 6 inches above the flood rim of the toilet. But I have two questions...

1. Should I put in a cleanout? (or is this overkill)

2. What type of fitting to use? (A "wye" or a "sanitary T" or doesn't it matter)

Thanks for any info...

overkill. but if you do put in a cleanout on the vertical, a santee would be fine.

Anything below flood level needs to be "waste fittings" wyes on the horizontal.
From horizontal to vertical a long turn 90 el.

Thanks!

Thanks for your response.

Waste fittings below the flood rim - yup.

Santee for a cleanout = peace of mind even though I probably wont need it. And who knows, maybe it will make the inspector happy.

Unless you have a very thick wall, a sanitary tee is going to stick out a long way. Use a regular tapped cleanout tee which does not have a protrusion at the opening.
