Rheem/Ruud/GE/Richmond/Vanguard, and possibly a couple of others, are all the same heater with different nametags.

So many companies have merged, it's hard to keep up with brand names and who builds what.

The Richmond will be the same unit at the 6 year warranty GE. The 9 year and 12 year GE's are still basically the same, with a few bells and whistles.

My neighbor had his WH die Friday evening. Bought a GE from HD. $100 extra gave him a transferable warranty to replace it for lifetime. I didn't read the fine print, but it seems like a good buy.
