tub to toilet dimension

I have about 11" from the edge of the bowl to the edge of the tub. As part of a remodel I want a wider and deeper tub. The tub we like will end up about 6" from the bowl.
Too close? If so, why?

Side, or front?

Code says you need 24" clear space in front of the toilet.

18" from centerline, on either side.

I am talking about the side clearance. My current set up is already invading the 18" dimension. Might have to cheat the clearance a little more.

The 18" is from centerline - not the edge of the bowl. IE, the toilet centered in a 36" wide space.

It is 15" from the centerline and yours should be okay when you finish.

HJ is right. It's 15" from the centerline, 21" in front.
