I have a 3 yr new house. My problem is I have a faucet that cost about $600.00 from Broadway with a diverter sprayer and one night while using the faucet to fill the tub, The diverter stem popped up and the diverted part of the shower now trickles all the time when ever the faucets are on. You can play with the stem (diverter) and make the water come out through the sprayer.
It is a corner tub and surrounded by marble. I have a small area in the basement just under the tub to get to the underside, but have not attempted to do anything until I spoke to someone that knew more than I do about diverter faucets.
How can I correct this problem without tearing up our tile floor and marble front on the tub.
BTW, the plumber would not fix this because I purchased it through the builder and not through him.....?

I am surprised you have a Broadway faucet because Broadway went out of business just about 3 years ago. You just snuck in!

They are warranted, and Ingersol Rand, who inherited Broadway with the Schlage acquisition, still answers the 800 number and will usually provide warranty parts to the original purchaser. No one is making any parts, and anything but stems and cartridges is going to be scarce.

Sorry that you have to be the poster child for our mantra.....don't buy foo-foo designer stuff!

Broadway Collection... If I'm not mistaken you can rip it out and put it in the brass scrap with your Hansa faucets and a few others where the manufacturer just packed it in and left you hanging... No parts , No support, No guarantee... They are gone!

May I interest you in an Oh so cheap! Oh so ordinary! Moen Faucet with a lifetime guarantee and the best customer service in the industry. Its a safe bet they will be here next year!

There may possibly be some parts available on the net if you figure out what you need... Good luck! Sooner or later its getting replaced.

Well, ok...I bought something that has been discontinued. Does anyone know what the problem is??? Is it a broken brass part...can I take it apart and fix it or do I need to pay a plumber to install a oh so cheap version of what I think was once a good looking faucet???
I think if it were not Broadway...someone would come up with a solution.
Any advice on repairing it would be appreciated very much.

Well what you have to do is pull it apart and figure out what is wrong and then maybe just maybe the part can be found. I wish I could go to broadways website and pull up a parts diagam and help you out but they are not there anymore. A plumber will say replace it as soon as he realizes that they are defunct. There comes a time when the fat lady stops singing!

BTW recently I had a customer that had a Moen pull out faucet in the kitchen that was leaking. He was the original owner of a 15 year old house and the faucet was installed by the builder. I told him what was leaking and that Moen would send him the part for free if he called them. A short time later he told me that the model he had was discontinued and the part was unavailable... They were sending him a complete new faucet! But then again It was not a Foo-Foo Designer faucet company. They usually charge very high prices and then fail to support their product leaving unhappy customers in their wake.

I thought someone may know enough about diverters to be helpful...Guess not. There is a website that sells all the parts for the faucet I have. I hope the business I purchased it from can come up with a solution. I was just hoping that someone here may know enough to give me a hint as to what the problem was.
Oh well....

BTW, you should not insult my decision to purchase a faucet that just happened to go out of business. How could I have known. I thought AT the time, I was making a wise choice.

Don't knock it buddy. Follow Redwood's advice and take the damn faucet apart, take pictures so we can see your $600 mistake.

That way the parts visible might indicate the failed part and go from there.

If Moen is too lowly for your taste may I suggest Grohe. They may be a PITA for parts but they will probably be in business for some time to come.

First, I have Moen throughout my house. I could not find a diverter to match the rest of the faucets in my master bath because they did not make them at the time to match the faucets, and most bathtub diverters were even more $$$$, but Broadway had one to match the faucets and shower faucet for $599.00 I did not go for the foo foo, it is a simple damn diverter and all brands are over priced.
When I found this site, All I wanted to know is what are the possible things that would cause this problem. Obviously no one here knows, which leads me to believe you would not know even if I did send pictures and a diagram. If I tore it all apart and looked at it I COULD PROBABLY figure it out myself. I will call the company that I purchased it from and let them figure it out. I have better resources than this stupid site.
I hope Terry reveiws this forum and realizes that NO ONE is helpful. All that are on this site are smart a-- has been plumbers that are trying to make every look stupid by flexing their plumbing muscles. I am not impressed.
I will never visit again or check any replies and would not recommend this site to anyone.

Oh dear. I have failed

So we picked on your faucet, then you get all foo man chu on us because your situation sucks at the tune of $600, and now we're supposed to be super plumbers and figure out what the problem is without a model number and breakdown of a faucet

that has no website

is no longer made

and you won't post pictures

This isn't a faucet problem folks; this is someone that's upset beyond our control that doesn't like the fact that the repair isn't at our fingertips.

Feel free to explore the world wide web with that attitude and see how many professionals that donate their time freely will stand in attention to your demeanor.

Expect more of the same. The best advice is to consider it a mistake and buy something common, common always makes repairs possible.

Don't read my response like you said, wouldn't want to make you more mad, that's for sure. yawn.gif

I have a feeling no has an answer for you because maybe they are all different designs inside.

If you can post a picture of the parts I bet there will be someone on here who could look at it and be able to help you with it.

Most of these people seem very knowlageable.

The White Tornado may I ask what you do for a living? I'd like to maybe offer an example of what you are asking us to do that you could understand.

Bald Eagle,
Thank you for responding with an intelligent response. I will take pictures when I can get someone to help me pull the marble and tile up. I have to wait until the temps are a little warmer and I have some time off. My husband and I own a corporation where we teach ISC 300 , IAP, and Worse Case to the FBI and our military. Unfortunately I do not have the time to be at home like I would like. I am in Japan this week and Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Texas and Tennessee next week. So, I hope to be able to get around to fixing this problem this year. I do appreciate your time and very reasonable intelligent response. Thank you.
