sewer/kitchen sink

I've been trying to research this problem, but can't find a good answer:
A few weeks ago, my sewer connection to the city was repaired. Since then, I've been getting a kind of musty/rubbery smell from the kitchen sink. I first thought it was a dirty disposal, but the disposal's since been replaced. I've cleaned out dirt from the pvc under the sink. Could something have been done when the connection was fixed that caused sewer gas to back up through my sink? There's water in the sink connection to stop gas...and I drumped some water in the basement traps...

If your sink plumbing is installed correctly, then there is no relationship between the odor and what was done outside.
