Plumbers installed two new elongated totodrakes. Replacing the older heavy water use type. The first on the 3rd flr I have had no reports. This on the 2nd floor has the problem of the bowl filling to almost overflowing and a plunger is need to clear the blockage. This happens almost every time when there is solid waste. I have noticed that nowhere have I seen any mention of this kind of issue. I have tried holding the handle down for a while as water fills, or quickly depressing it to no avail.

If any one has any advise, that would be great.

Thank you.

Did the plumbers use a plain wax ring or, one of the ones with the black plastic funnel (horn) built into it?

I have seen on the 3" closet flanges where the large outlet horn of the "Super Toilets will pinch the the black plastic horn almost shut causing clogging issues! I have no doubt that this is the problem you are having or, there is a foreign object in the toilet.

The only properly installed Toto Drake that I have ever seen clogged had a clogged main line under it!

Problem Solved! It was the installation!

Thank you for having taken the time to answer my inquiry. The original installation encounter the base-board in the back and had shifted the unit forward and then set it down thus closing the opening by as much as 3/4 inch.

When they return after my complaint the base board was removed from behind the unitiand that gave sufficient room for it to seat properly and thus all works as it should.

Again many thanks for offering this opportunity to ask questions and receive support

Happy New Year to :D

With the Drakes you recommend getting a wax ring without any plastic insert?
My Drake will be here Tues or Wed and I think I bought the wrong ring.
Do Big Box places carry Wax Rings less the plastic?

Thanks!

I do not advocate the use of a wax ring with the plastic horn on almost any toilet installation. They cause far more problems than they have ever cured!

I once went on a service call to a homeowner that complained about her Porcher stool. She had had four other plumbers look at it. It would clog up every few days. When plunged, it would flush great for a while. When I pulled the stool, I noticed the clear tape across the bottom horn had not been removed. Porcher stools come with the tape across the horn opening and I don't know why. The original plumber didn't see it and the other plumbers would plunge it, charge for a service call, and leave. They all told her they don't work on the fancy toilets. She lives 20 miles from OKC and had to call the designer plumbing store to get a plumber knowledgable about Porcher stool when the problem was the earlier plumbers giving up too easily for a service call.
