View Full Version : bathtub removal - what about drain?

I have removed a bathtub as part of my master bath remodel. This leaves me with the overflow and main drain pipes along with water pipes that I need to deal with before I can patch the subfloor and install tile. What is the best way to 'cap' the drain lines? Should I have them capped where they are or remove them altogether? It looks like the drain pipe runs back to the shower drain (maybe the stack?) and may connect to it. (the shower drain is about 8 feet from the tub drain).
I plan to hire a plumber to cap or move the water lines, but would like to do as much of the prep work I can.
