I have a shallow point in the ground at 17 feet for 25 plus years. We don't believe it is low on water as the water table has not gone down . When the pump has stopped running and you turn on the water it runs about right until the pump kicks in and then you will get blasts of air. The air blast will continue off and on while the pump is running. I will be using some of the Nu Well tablets to clean the point, but while reading this forum it sounds like it could be an air leak. If it is an air leak, how do I test for that? The check valve keeps the pump primed for weeks. The tanks bladder also keeps a charge.

Twenty five years with the same casing and point. That's pretty good. I would think the casing or the suction line may have a pinhole from age and rusting pipes.

It might be time for a new well.

25 years

Its at our camp, which we only use about 4 or 5 weeks per year.

The age is what counts, not how many times you use it. It's still in the earth with differing percentages of humidity. And with a low PH in the soil the pipe won't last forever.

can another pipe be run down inside the 1 1/4 inch pipe to be used as a suction pipe? It is only 17 feet deep. Trying to not have to pull the point up and and replace the pipe and point.

Thanks
