I'm installing a new drain in a condo shower. This is a shower replacement for a tub and the channel is only 3" deep. The plumber installed a drain that sticks up another 5" above this channel. The PVC knuckle is rather large and he can't find a smaller one.

Does anyone know of a low-profile knuckle I could use? I would think a brass knuckle could be made a lot smaller. I don't mind a small build-up, but I don't have the height to remove 5" to 6" of height from my shower.

Please help - Thanks!

John

Can you post a picture? Did the drain line get updated to a 2"? Have you checked out www.johnbridge.com? A clamping drain with weep holes is fairly deep. The Kerdi drain for a Kerdi shower system www.schluter.com may be thinner. typically, in multifamily dwellings, the plumbing must be done to code...code requires 2" drains for showers and tubs often are 1.5".
