I've got an old-school galvanized well and I'd been on here earlier and learned to fix a leaking pressure regulator (actually I can't remember what the parts called - it's this thing: http://eyespike.com/well/images/CIMG1113.jpg) with a new one that has a different type of brass fitting on the front, presumably for regulating the pressure in the tank (this is the new one http://eyespike.com/well/images/CIMG1674.JPG).
Because of the water pressure surging inside, I believe it's waterlogged again, so I know I'll drain it this weekend and refill it completely to fix that, but it's a hundred gallon tank and it's cycling on at 20 psi, and going off at about 45 currently. I'm not sure that's the correct settings - they've been fiddled with by a couple people already
and I have no documentation that says what they were set to originally. I know how to adjust them, I just don't know the optimum cut on/cut off psi and range for that that size tank - seems like it was greater than that originally.
Somebody told me all I do is while it's up to the cutoff pressure is just adjust that fitting with a screwdriver until it hisses - is that true? I just don't want to end up with a backyard geyser!
