IF you are driving a sand point for a shallow well pump , how many feet of water should you have in the pipe when you drop a string in it to see if it has water in the pipe?

There is no set amount. The best way to check the well as your putting it in is to put a Pitcher Pump on it after each 5' joint and see if it pumps. If you get a little water, drive another 5' and you should be there.
