I recently replaced a jet pump in my basement for my whole house. It is a 1/2 hp motor. There is a bladder tank underneath the pump. Now, I primed the pump , opened up a faucet in my kitchen and started the pump. The water never reaches my kitchen and the pump just keeps getting hotter and hotter. There is water getting to the pump, just not the rest of the house. Please help. Thank you.

The only way the pump gets hot is if it doesn't have any water running through it.

Close the valves in the house.

Open a valve or plug at the pump, prime it, and run it with the plug or valve a bit loose until the water comes out. If it doesn't start flowing water pretty quickly, turn it off and try again.

After you get a steady stream water out of the pump, close the vavle slowly and watch the pressure gauge. The pressure you get when you close the priming plug or valve is the precharge pressure in the tank.
