I recently slowly lost water pressure while in the shower and never regained it.I replaced the transfer pump with a 1and 1/2 Hp pump. I primed the pump and I still cannot get any water to the house lines. I checked the pressure in the pressure tank and it was at zero.I pumped it up to 28psi and while the power was off to the transfer pump I started to prime it and as i unscrewed the bolt ther was pressure in it. I then started the pump and I still could not get any water and the pump was getting hotter and hotter so I shut it down. Do I need a new tank? when I check the pressure in the tank there is nowater coming out just air. Please help. MIke Buckeye:eek:

The tank is only there to effect pump cycling -- it is not the reason you lost water pressure. It sounds to me like you might need a new pump, but I would first check the well to be sure it is productive.

I replaced the old pump..The well has been in place for at least 80 years and I hace a very high water table in my area...my neighbors have had no problem with their wells going dry...the well was checked out about 5 years ago and it was in great condition..Iwas wondering if it was wired properly or if installation of the new pump was incorrect..thank you for your reply..
