View Full Version : Cutting pvc to shower drain on the inside

Seems that I roughed it the shower pvc to long & need to cut some off . Is there a cutter that can do it from the inside. I can't cut it on the outside because of the underlayment.....

Yes, called an inside pipe cutter, it attaches to a drill.

IF you use the drill mounted cutter and have a "keyless" chuck be sure to place a rag in the drain because it will probably shake loose and drop into the drain before you finish. There is a Ridgid manual cutter but it is not inexpensive so you might see if it is available for rent. You can also use a "Ram Bit" used for removing pipe from fittings that will "eat" the pipe away as you drill down from the top of it. When you get to the point where the pipe is short enough just stop drilling.
