Hi everyone -
Apologies if this has already been asked before...did a quick search and didn't see anything similar
I'm in the middle of doing some renovations that included a complete gut and re-build of the existing bathroom. I contracted out the plumbing work, and I have a couple of questions about the toilet flange that the plumber installed.
To give some background, he installed the PVC waste pipe, flange, etc AFTER i had removed the bathroom subfloor. the subfloor was still removed when he called for the rough inspection, which passed. when i installed the new subfloor, i just cut out a square to fit around the flange (which had already been glued in). this was before i knew that the subfloor had to extend underneath the flange so it could be screwed into the subfloor.
Secondly, the plumber left about 3/8" between the subfloor and bottom of the flange. i had planned on installing a 3/8" plywood underlayment, Ditra, then 1/4" thick tile.
So my questions are, can i use a flange support kit like this

I managed to size the cutout so it just allows the flange to pass through, but don't know if the support kit is meant to just replace rotted subfloor (as opposed to missing subfloor in my case).
If I can use the support kit, can i bridge the height difference between the flange and finished floor height with an extender?
And lastly, would both of these things be an adequate fix, or should i just bite the bullet, cut up the subfloor, and call the plumber back to cut off the existing flange and do it right?
