This is my first posting here. I just reviewed some of the threads, and there seems to be some very useful info here!
Anyway, I recently bought a new Kohler white cast iron/enamel sink, a Moen white spray head faucet, and will be starting a small remodel of my kitchen this week. I realized that I better hurry up and get the sink strainer/baskets, so went to Lowes and Home Depot today and started looking for a strainer.
There is a nice one from Kohler, but it is $35 apiece, and the package seems pretty heavy.
The guys in the plumbing dept at both stores said there is no functional difference, the Kohler is made of better material, but that is about it. I found a "Leakproof Turn 2 Seal Strainer" for about $13, and it seems similar to one I have in my existing sink. I like that it makes a leakproof seal with a turn of the center piece.
However, before I buy, I started searching on the internet to see if there is some compelling reason to buy a more expensive strainer.
Is there anything I should know or think about before buying a strainer? Is it worth the extra money to buy the Kohler one, or one of the other heavier $30 strainers?
Thanks in advance for the help!!
