Horizontal Drain Question

Hi, I am remodeling an upstairs master bathroom and am a little bit perplexed about how to handle the following situation.

I am installing a tile shower and directly across from the shower will be the toilet. Both the shower drain and the toilet flang are in between the same joist. The main 3" line is coming in just slightly below the joists almost exactly in the middle of both drains.

What is the best way to connect both drains? I was thinking about using a double sanitary wye. Will this work or is there another fitting or combination of fittings that would be better?

I greatly appreciate any advice.

Thanks

without a diagram, pictures, or a location (nationally), it's hard to say. post some drawings, pictures and tell us where you are located. your local building dept. is always a good resource.

If that wye can be oriented vertically (or at least below horizontal) so that the line from either the shower or the toilet cannot flow directly into the other, I would think you would be okay.

I was able to figure it out. I put a standard sanitary wye in and right after that a 3x3x2 wye basically pointing the oposite direction and both oriented vertically.

I will take a picture to show what I did. I am glad I was less then 5 feet to the main 3 inch vent stack for both drains!!

Thanks you very much for the replys.
