Question; If a lighting strike traveled through copper piping what kind of damage could occur?

Is it possible that if lighting traveled though copper piping that damage such as pin hole leaks would occur as well as problems soldering the joint; and is it possible to damage a hot water heater as well as the electrical breakers that operate this heater?

Could you explain electrolisis damage to copper piping?

Corrosion can be caused by small electrical currents generated when 2 dissimilar metals are touching, and a path for current flow through an electrolyte ( water ) exists. But copper is up the list, and metals lower on the list ( iron, zinc ) sacrifice themselves to protect the other metal.

Copper can corrode ( pinholes ) if improper installation of the electrical grounding system in the home causes current to flow in the copper.

Lighting.....anything can happen.
