Dark Maple Soft Seat and Toto toilet colors

I like the photos of the dark maple soft seat, but my husband is not sold on it. Is it painted so you can't see the grain?

Also, how does the cotton colored porcelain differ from the white? It is hard to see online.

It is not painted it is solid Maple "Soft close" seat with chrome hinges and it looks very nice in real life.
"Cotton" is Toto's white colour it will match most of the other makes of white except "American Standard" which is Toto's "Colonial White"
