I am seeking step by step info on installing a shallow sand point to be used for my sprinkler system I want to install. Since I am new to this, does anyone have info for my review? Some of the questions I have are, when pounding in the sand point, how will I know I have struck water? Once I have found water, how can I pump it out of the ground and attach it to a sprinkler system? These are just a few questions I have so far, but im sure there would be more. Thanks, Chris

When a weighted string comes out wet.

Begin with a hand-powered pitcher pump to clear the well, then select a pump to match your well and distribution system. The regular pump guys here can point you in a right direction.

I would first ask around the neighborhood if anyone else has a well like you described. If someone does, ask how deep it is, and what screen they used. Are they getting sand? How much water are they getting? Wouldn't hurt to get friendly with the guy that has put one in already (more than one is better).
