I'm in the process of a second story addition. The pipes (copper-L ¾") and CPVC (3")will be running over (and down a wall) in the living room w/ 2 X 10 joists/ceiling. The master bath is above. Cast iron is not an option since plumbing is already done

Any ideas to make the pipes very quiet- besides insulation.

Rubber undercoating on the PVC? "DynaMat" sound deadening material?
Polyethylene pipe insulation?

Ideas?

Thanks in advance-

Richard

supply lines in the wall are usually quiet whether copper or not. They make noise near the shower or tub, where the pressure drops a lot when full flow.

waste lines - add continuous layers, of density. 5/8" fire rated drywall in ceiling. And wall. Lots of solid and contnuous insulation around pipe.
