Trying to find what the required drywall thickness code is for St. Louis. Would like to use 3/8 for what were tackling....... Thanks

Don't know Missouri code. Fell in love with a girl in Kansas City once, but that's a different story!

What project are you working on? I don't think a single layer of 3/8" drywall on studs is acceptable for inhabited spaces.

Relative with 2nd story has two rooms to refurb.. Some walls were plaster, and some was 1/2 thick drywall. Would like to use 3/8 thru entire project.. Plus the 3/8 is some lighter,, and were some what older... :-)

5/8" fire rated stuff is called for in some places as well. Now, talk about heavy! If carrying the stuff up is the problem, you might get by if you used two sheets; more trips, but lighter on the way. 1/4" stuff is often laminated around curves, etc. A single sheet is just too flimsy.

Check with the inspector at your city's building department to see where you need 1/2" and where you need 5/8" fire rated.

3/8" is not code anywhere.
