starting gel for pellet stove

Hi all,
Have a brand new Harmon p61. Im looking for te best deal on starting gel. Thinking Il need to build more fires in the spring and fall. Am i correct in assuming this I dont want to risk not being able to find the stuff when needed. Might even go with a case if I can find the right price, or is that overkill? Appreciate you folks input and advice on whats good and at good price. When the installer showed me how to light a fire, he used a half a bottle. At $7.00 a bottle thats going to get expensive Thanks, Doug in Pa.

Similar stuff has been around for ages...I haven't used any for decades, but if the pelets are dry, and they should be, a tablespoon or so would probably be plenty. Does the instruction manual give you an indication?

I've used everything. I buy a *brick* of firestarter which is basically sawdust and wax. Precut 1 inch squares and store in metal container inside plastic gallon size food storage bag.
Put on pile of pellets in burn tray. Brick is about 4 bucks and will last for a couple months. Better-faster than gel.

When I need a fast fire---I use my self igniting hand held propane torch.
Only takes about a minute.

I try to buy 25-30 bags pre-season---before the rush when people are buying up pallets of pellets.
We all have to prepare for pellet shortages which seems to happen every year.
Dont wait until Thanksgiving to stock up--
Walmart has best price on pellets.
