The wire has an asthetic quality, in a cheap, rundown rent by the hour hotel room kinda way.

You should send it to the guys that write those DIY plumbing books. They could add a chapter on how to get by if you don't have the money for the correct parts, or don't know how to install them.

Would you believe:

Seran wrap used to fix a leaky toilet fill valve.

Weed-whacker cord used in closet to hang clothes on.

A copper pipe hung on a couple of screws used as a curtain rod for those fine bed-sheet curtains.

Bifold doors attached to closet jamb with conventional door hinges and missing the track, knobs, and pins.

A Bath door hung upside down, so doorknob is chest high.

Light fixture electrical boxes held in place by a couple of bent nails.

Tub Spout diverter with hand-held shower fitting capped off with a cap from a soda pop bottle.

The weird thing is that this is a beautiful Adobe house and will be again, once I'm done in here. :)
