This is my outdoor spigot which leaks when I turn it on. My first thought is it needs a new washer or O ring, but the plastic thing puzzles me and somehow gives me a bad vibe, so I figure I should ask here.

Is this a simple fix and how do I go about taking spigot apart to get to where I need to do the repair? If somebody has a diagram showing its assembly it would be great.

BTW, this is in Canada so it must be a freeze proof spigot.

Thanks.

That is a Woodford Mod. #25. You can get a rebuild kit for it that will fix your problem.

The hose connection is not a check valve and will give you a shower when you shut the faucet off if the hose is under pressure. There is a double check that you can get from Woodford to replace the hose connection part that will prevent that from happening.

I will order the repair kit and give it a shot. Thank you for your help.

FYI, I have found that the double unit will rob pressure, and flow. About to change the one I have, which is on a well system.
