Closet Flange Installation

Hi All,

Regarding a new toilet install, should you install the closet flange at the sub-floor level and tile up to it or at the finished floor level?

The correct way is to install it after the new floor is installed, anchored through the floor into the subflooring. Less chance of leaking, and a normal wax ring is all that is needed. If you notch the tile for the mounting bolts, you don't need to try to drill afterwards. The flange should sit tight on top of the finished floor.
