This might sound like a crazy question but I need to know. Is there any parts on a hot water tank that is coated with teflon. Reason I am asking is that the hot water tank is in the basement below the living room where I have a parrot. Teflon coated appliances can kill a parrot. We need to replace the tank with a new one and I can't seem to find out if anything is coated.

I know some regular heaters (kind that you use to keep warm -portable) have teflon on the heating elements but have never heard anything about water heaters. Anyone out there know?

Thanks for any help
