We are doing some renovations to our house room by room, and are temporarily turning a disused bathroom into a pantry (as we tear out some rooms we have to store items in others just to get by).

The thing is, this bathroom will be demoed in a few months, so nothing we do has to be spectacular. We just want to remove the old toilet and cap it off. We know there is clay drainage pipe to the sewer from the toilet, so the question is - How do we cap off old clay pipe?

Your answers are really appreciated!

You can cut it off and get a temporary cap (rubber with a band) at any plumbing supply store - just make sure to tell them exactly what type of pipe it is for (or the exact OD of the pipe)...
