moving waste line

thank you for your response. This might be a dumb question, but where are main sewer line usually located? Are they always on the street in front of the property?

Not necessarily...look for a manhole cover, but that isn't definitive, either as it could be for electrical, gas, or phone, etc. You can probably find out if you call the town or city. Since things must flow downhill, you can get an idea by looking at your pipes. they try to go fairly straight out of the house to the main sewer line.
