ABS or PVC for outside pond

First of I really do appreciate your help and support.

The question is on ABS pipe and PVC pipe. I am constructing a pond outside, where it freezes, and don't know which is best. Is abs pipe or PVC pipe better for this. ABS pipe looks better in a pond setup because it is black but structural issues are far more important to me. I suppose there might be some places where water might collect in the piping and freeze. Also I already have purchases flexible PVC pipe but need rigid pipe in places. A good multipurpose cement should join them well. Thanks

PVC has better tolerances than ABS.
ABS is used indoors, PVC outside.

Can ABS be used outdoors . What would happen if I did use it in this setup. THanks

ABS pipe in DWV applications may be used in the ground or above ground. It may be used outdoors if the pipe contains pigments to shield against ultraviolet radiation, or jurisdictions may require the pipe to be painted with water-base latex paint for outdoor use. Check with the pipe supplier for details about local regulations for this material.
ABS pipe has the strength to withstand the crushing loads of soil, slab
foundations and high surface loads without collapse. It is also resistant to the impact of accidental abuse common to construction and plumbing operations.
The temperature range is -40°F to 180°F but any movement at that cold and it's brittle.
As long as the pipe is not full of water when freezing it won't burst.
