Hi,
I am new here but my question is about my water softener.
I have a culligan mark 812 and I think it needs to have its insides redone. that will cost about 350.00 dollars. I thought about buying a new one and was told no!!! that the 812 was a really good softener and it would be best to have the insides redone.
Does any one really know about that. We have had it about 11years and at that time we bought it recondition. Our water is extremely hard about a 25 or higher so I really don't want to be without one.
Any help or imput will be helpful.

Thank You,

It was reconditioned when you bought it and that's 11 yrs ago.... I suspect it is a day timer, not a metered/demand regenerated control valve. They use up to twice the amount of water and salt that a demand/metered uses.

Rather than spending over half of what a new softener would cost if you buy it over the internet (less than $700 delivered), I'd say replace it but... if you buy from a local dealer, you'll probably pay about $1500 up.

culligans are a rip off

if the unit is 12 years old , throw it away....

if they want to re-condition it for 350, its not worth the
money because they only change out hte minerals, they dont
give you a new controll head for that.....

then the controll head goes bad and you are in too
deep not to throw it away....

then culligan has you by the short hairs

get a CLACK and within 5 years you probably will
have saved well over 350 dollars in salt alone...
