I've just installed a new tub and I'm having difficulty connecting the piping from the tub drain to the waste pipe that rest below it. Previously the 2 pipes we're connected by a flexi-tailpiece, however, the new PVC configuration comes much lower, and I can't get a flexi-tailpiece to connect the two. I've attached a pic to show what I'm dealing with. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Normally, you would use a new p-trap, and line it up below the waste and overflow.
that way, you would have used solid pipe, not flexible stuff.
The pipe could have gone straight down into the p-trap.
