Evac'g water from pipe during solder..

Has anybody ever used this tool? Wassi Water Stopper
It's a plunger type system the seems to make 90's and allows for multiple welds before retraction is needed. Will prob buy it just to see how well it works.

Anyway, I needed to couple 2 inch copper and for the life of me, could not get the H20 to stop interfering with my weld. Whats your technique? Or do you just use bread? I ended up using my shop vac to evac the water, but it took longer than I wanted it to.

What about Jet-Swet tools?

If you get one and use it, please report back on how well it works. (or doesn't)

The Wassi is able to make bends. I think the JS is limited to straight lines.

Yep, strictly straight lines for a Jet-Swet, which also cost more. On their side, is the more rugged construction, and much larger sealing surfaces.

I have a Wassi kit in my truck, I think it goes up to 2".

I have used it several times, but mostly on hydronic tie-ins, and at that only long enough to get a ball valve burnt on.

When I have used it on live systems, (not full pressure, but over 20#) it doesn't work the best. It doesn't take much pressure to push the expanded plug towards you.

Whenever I use the kit, a ball valve and a short piece of pipe are installed. That way, it is safe to solder against the closed bv.
