Just purchased a home with a 13 yr. old Lasco one piece shower/tub. There are several small cracks in the shower wall and a plumber told me to get some silicone. The guy at the hardware store told me the silicone was a waste of money - if the cracks were small, to just let them go. What should I do?

If you want it to look new, contact someone in the Yellow Pages that does tub chip repair.
They don't charge much, and can make it look like new.

You need to seal the cracks one way or another or you will eventually discover that you have rotted out the walls. You can do this the way Terry mentioned or by doing it yourself using silicone or some sort of fiberglass repair kit.
