2 plumbing supply vendors in my area. 1 carries only the cinch clamps, another carries only the rings. When I asked the second vendor why he didn't have cinch clamps in stock, the response was that they were unreliable. Is this true? I only roughed a few times with cinch clamps and I didn't get any callbacks, but if they are in fact unreliable, I am going to drop cinch clamp installation all together. Anyone out there can comment? Would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance

If your crimping tool is out of spec and if you don't check each crimp, you risk a bad connection. With the rings, as long as you get the fitting seated the full depth and the ring is positioned properly, it will work. So, in either case, if you are conscientious, it should work.

its probably true

basically the pex with the crimpy clamps is not much better
than the old POLYBUTELINE with about exaclty the same clamps
on them......the new pipe might be ok but the clamps are shitty
and in time with exapnsion and contraction of the ot water they will probably
start to leak at the clamps

I think the only truely reliable type of pex out there is the
WIRSBO with the large expansion plastic rings that all
compressed down on the pipe....

but only time will tell for sure which one is the best
and odds are they all will last probably at least
5 - 10 years.... before catastropic faliures begin to crop
up everywhere

then the crap will hit the fan...in a big way....

have plenty of insurance and a umbrella policy in case you
get named in lawsuits like the fellows in Las Vegas did over KITECH

Stick with OEM pipe, fittings, tools and attatchment methods.

Anything else is a cobb-job. Pex is not universal.
