Today when I turned on the kitchen sink faucet for cold water, what came out was very foamy. When I filled up a glass the foam would dissipate after 5 seconds or so. After letting the water run for about a minute the water was no longer foamy. I tried the faucets in the bathroom with the same results, very foamy. After turning the faucet off the sound coming from the drain was as if I had poured a bottle of carbonated water down the drain. The water is always clear, just foamy. My water comes from a well. What could cause this?

I sometimes get something similar when I change my filters, but I do not know the cause.

The usual cause is air. There are a number of possibile causes if you have your own well, but with city water.... do you have a softener or regenerated or backwashed filter? Unless you have a disposable cartride filter and just changed the cartridge.

I find this happening a lot on the houses that I pipe with cpvc... is that your water distribution pipe ??
