Moen Tub Stopper Removal

2137I can't get the stopper removed from the drain so I can clean the drain.

I have 2 tubs with the same stopper. The guest tub stopper comes out easily with just a few wiggles while the daily use tub stopper won't come out no matter what I do. I don't really understand the mechanics so it's hard to know what to do?

Hold the big ring with a pair of pliers, then unscrew the knob from it. There will be a stud underneath with a slot in it for a screwdriver.
