I searched, but came up empty.

I have never tied into a septic tank before. The tank is already installed and approved for use. The gasket on the input of the tank states "Bevel and Grease Pipe." I have no problem with the bevel, but what kind of grease do I use? I was thinking about using Crisco shortening. I figured it would be the most compatible.

Any help will be appreciated.

Not sure if it was the right thing to do or not, but I used Joy dish soap. Slid in there nice and tight.

Crisco will work just fine. When Tyseal gaskets came out in the early '60s the lube generally used to facilitate the often difficult insertion of pipe into gasketed fitting was Crisco.

I doubt that it makes any difference what you use Obviously, dish detergent is a pretty good choice because it worked. Dry PVC just needs some lube to help it slip through the gasket.

You might also use plumbers silicone grease. don

I guess one question would be whether the tank has internal baffles or not. Here, the tanks have a PVC baffle with a pipe stub for connection. If yours has internal baffles, then you have to know which pipe the gasket is designed for. Some use S&D thin wall which has a smaller o.d. than regular pipe.
